Some people think that the key to success lies within their daily routines. Do you agree with this, and if so, what is your daily routine?

Yes, I definitely agree with having a daily routine because it sets up the day and the week so that you’re productive and you have the right mindset to take care of your personal and professional goals.  My weekday routine is to wake up around 5:00 am, and immediately do some morning stretches and meditation.  I workout almost every morning at F45 or Orange Theory Fitness.  I then have a protein shake, get showered and dressed and get my family ready for school.  I usually start preparing for my workday at 8:00 am, and I plan to structure for “deep work”, phone calls and meetings.  My daily routine is pretty set and I try to stick to it as much, but there are days that I don’t get to do everything I planned.

Looking back at your teenage years, did you have any entrepreneurial interests?

In high school, I was very entrepreneurial.  I used to throw events for my friends where I would get a DJ, charge admission fees, and promote different themes for these events.  Eventually in college, I partnered with a group of DJs and promoted parties at the local nightclubs and lounges or even at house parties.  I was able to gain a lot negotiation skills, and gained a lot of skills in marketing and managing relationships.

Is there a specific time of day when you feel most productive?

I’m usually the most productive in the morning and late at night.  I feel very productive in the morning because I’m fresh, and I’m usually working out, but then I have a spurt of creativity at night.

Do you think there is one character trait/skill that is important to have in order to become a successful entrepreneur in today’s world?

Yes, I think it is important to be resilient.  When things don’t go the way you plan, being resilient is key to keeping a positive mindset and moving forward.

Has being a woman in the business world affected you positively or negatively, and how so?

I am proud to be a woman in the business world, but I feel as though I have been met with more challenges than my male counterparts.  I think the biggest challenge is that you have to work harder to prove yourself, be more vocal, and be more aggressive in everything you do.  I think it is important to have a thick skin and be able to learn and take feedback.

What is one major goal that you wish to achieve by 2030?

I am hoping to create a personal brand and legacy that is known for being a great leader and a source of inspiration for other women. I am also hoping to inspire younger generations to follow their dreams and not be afraid to be themselves. Through my work, I want to show people that you can be successful in any industry.

Who is your biggest influence, and why?

My biggest influence is my mother, who is my biggest role model.  She was my first boss and always pushed me to be the best version of myself.  She taught me to be resilient, be confident, and that it is okay to fail as long as you learn from your mistakes.  She has always taught me to be independent and to be a strong woman.  She is also a great business woman and has always been an inspiration to me.  Her work ethic is incredible and I am so proud of everything she has accomplished, and I want to be just like her.

If you could pick one female entrepreneur, who would you say is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest female entrepreneur inspiration is Rihanna.  She is a successful singer, songwriter, and business woman.  She has an incredible work ethic and always pushes herself to be the best.  She’s very authentic and has a great sense of style.  She’s also very philanthropic and a role model for me.

What has been the most formative advice you have received and why?

The best formative advice I’ve gotten is to not forget where you came from.  As a child of immigrant parents, and someone who didn’t have many resources growing up, I was always taught to not forget where I came from and to be grateful for everything that I have.  This has taught me to always be thankful for everything and to always work hard, give back to others, and make sure that I am helping others, especially those who are less fortunate than me.  I hope to never take for granted what I have and to strive to empower others who have less than me.

What has been the most impressive/memorable question anyone has ever asked you?

The most memorable question I have ever received was from a young woman who I mentor and have mentored for the past 5 years.  She asked me what I would tell my younger self starting out in my career.    I was truly inspired by her question and what I would tell my younger self starting out is to take risks, try different careers, and never be afraid to fail.

If you have siblings, are they also entrepreneurs?

No I don’t have siblings.

Do you think the drive to become an entrepreneur is born with or is learned?

The drive to become an entrepreneur is learned.  If you are in a position to see what a successful entrepreneur does, you will see that it is a learned trait and skill.  You can learn entrepreneurship by watching others, seeing role models, and learning from their mistakes.
