Barbara Wainwright

Some people think that the key to success lies within their daily routines. Do you agree with this, and if so, what is your daily routine?

I do not agree.  In my opinion, a routine can be stagnating. As an entrepreneur we need to be stimulated.  A great work ethic is extremely important.  Being able to keep your word and follow through is important.  A daily routine?  Not so much.

Looking back at your teenage years, did you have any entrepreneurial interests?

I made key chains and sold them to novelty stores.  I liked arts and crafts and made too many to keep.

Is there a specific time of day when you feel most productive?

I feel most productive when I can get quiet time.  I have a family and my family needs attention.  So, for me, there is no “special” time – it’s when I can.  Like right now 🙂

Do you think there is one character trait/skill that is important to have in order to become a successful entrepreneur in today’s world?

I think it is important to be willing to take a risk.  And, also to be able to commit and follow through.  I know people that have great ideas, but they don’t have the capacity to follow through.

Has being a woman in the business world affected you positively or negatively, and how so?

In the coaching industry, being a woman hasn’t made much of a difference.  As a software consultant, I noticed that men were paid more than women.  That was a long time ago though.

What is one major goal that you wish to achieve by 2030?

I would like my company to be self-sustaining so that I can leave a legacy.

Who is your biggest influence, and why?

Eckhart Tolle because his spiritual work helped me to become more present in every  moment.

If you could pick one female entrepreneur, who would you say is your biggest inspiration?

My niece, Ashlee Norman.  Instagram @AshleeNormanHair

What has been the most formative advice you have received and why?

To set and write down goals.  I have accomplished much because of doing so.  (3 books on Amazon, over 6,600 coaching graduates, 60 video shorts on Youtube, over 158 episodes of a podcast on Spotify etc.)

What has been the most impressive/memorable question anyone has ever asked you?

How do you want to be remembered?

If you have siblings, are they also entrepreneurs?

Yes, I have 3 sisters and no, not one of them is an entrepreneur.

Do you think the drive to become an entrepreneur is born with or is learned?

That is a great question.  I’m leaning toward “born with it”.
