Some people think that the key to success lies within their daily routines. Do you agree with this, and if so, what is your daily routine?

My daily routine starts with meditation, assessing and acting on my priority list for the workday, and catching up on the news when I can. I try to plan active moments and opportunities to experience joy as well, for example, hiking, listening to podcasts or my audible books, joining one of my favorite book clubs online, or having dinner with friends or family. But just because I have a routine and it works for me, it doesn’t mean that’s the answer for anyone else! We’re all different and have our own styles and what works for us to live healthy, joyful, and productive lives. I think the most important thing is to be intentional about the gift of each day, and to experiment with what works best for us. For example, I always try to focus on projects that need the most creativity and attention earlier in the day. But I know many who are at their best late at night.

Do you think there is one character trait/skill that is important to have in order to become a successful entrepreneur in today’s world?

The single most important success factor is resilience. There is no such thing as overnight success! Entrepreneurs face many challenges, especially in the tech world. Keeping the higher purpose in mind and celebrating small wins are critical, as well as making time to rest and rejuvenate on a daily basis to maintain the resilience that’s needed throughout the journey.

Has being a woman in the business world affected you positively or negatively, and how so?

Absolutely positively, especially in the tech field which is highly male-dominated. This is because I have unique lived experiences which naturally lead to seeing around the blind spots and leading in a different way, which is sometimes critical. This is why there are plenty of reports that show diverse and inclusive teams perform better. What’s critical for all under-represented people is to recognize our own unique traits and capabilities that can lead to significant contributions, and to select inclusive environments where they are recognized and appreciated.

What has been the most formative advice you have received and why?

“The journey is everything.” We are all in a big hurry, and frankly, if we’re not having fun along the way, it’s very challenging to succeed.
