Some people think that the key to success lies within their daily routines. Do you agree with this, and if so, what is your daily routine?

I deal with people every day, and so my routine varies on the personalities and demands that are needed every day.  However, my mornings start out the same, where I mentally prepare myself for the things I have to get done and prioritize them.  I do believe that we are creatures of habit, and if I do something out of order or not to follow my own protocols, mistakes are made.

Looking back at your teenage years, did you have any entrepreneurial interests?

When I was a teenager, I did not see myself with any interest of being in business; however, because I was in sports or rode horses, I needed to raise money to support my hobby.  I did not like the idea of pushing people into buying what I was selling.  Today, I find that I use a different approach to my business because of that.  I let my product speak for itself.

Is there a specific time of day when you feel most productive?

The mornings are most productive for me because I start with a purpose and usually, depending on the demands of customers, may steer me in a different direction.  By the end of the day, I am usually mentally exhausted.

Do you think there is one character trait/skill that is important to have in order to become a successful entrepreneur in today’s world?

A character trait to have in the markets today is customer service.  The way the world has gone today with technology that customer service is lost.  You may be good at what you do or have a great product, but if there is no customer service or personable to connect with customers, they will not trust you.

Has being a woman in the business world affected you positively or negatively, and how so?

Being a woman in a traditionally man’s skill set has affected me in both positive and negative ways.  There are people out there who support me and are excited that I am here and available for them and their needs.  It is slowly changing the people who believe that jewelry is a “man” trait and come in looking for a man to do their work.  I have learned to let those people walk away if they are not going to trust me to do a better job.

What is one major goal that you wish to achieve by 2030?

My goal to achieve by 2030 is to grow with the technology world as it grows in producing the ever-changing styles and trends of jewelry.

What has been the most formative advice you have received and why?

The best advice I have received from others in my field is that when working with people, I am not going to be able to please everyone.  This has helped me trying to be perfect and make everyone happy when in fact, there are some personalities I am just not going to be compatible with.

If you have siblings, are they also entrepreneurs?

I have four other siblings, and none of them are entrepreneurs.

Do you think the drive to become an entrepreneur is born with or is learned?

I think the drive to become an entrepreneur is both born and learned.  People have different personalities, so if the why is big enough to want something, then you are going to learn the task of making things happen.
